In Value in Design, you’ll discover how to create a piece that fits your style and design goals. You’ll:

  • Learn about the two major components of visual style in handwoven cloth, mood and pattern.
  • Discover how to use value to create both mood and pattern.
  • Create three beautiful designs to put into practice what you’ve learned.
  • Design and weave a lovely set of napkins in your favorite style.

Understanding Value

The Draft Editor (if you’re not comfortable using the Draft Editor)

Equipment needed

A smartphone or digital camera that can produce black and white images (most smartphones/digital cameras can do this) is helpful but not required. 

A printer is helpful but not required.

Weaving skills needed

If you choose to weave the napkin, you should be able to warp, weave, and hem your own projects from clearly written project instructions. However, weaving the project is not required.
