So far we have learned about drafts, twills, weaving diagrams and calculating densities. Now is when we put all the theory together in practical application and get it on the loom.
This class covers direct and indirect warping with two heddles using our threading diagram from our draft. We will also look at how to lift and lower the heddles using a liftplan of the draft so you can actually weave your project!
Supplies:
- Draft and threading diagram
- Thread of your choice (Sample uses doubled 8/2)
- Two appropriately sized heddles of the same dent (Sample was woven on two 10 EPI heddles)
- Rigid heddle loom with a double heddle block
Prerequisites:
Rigid Heddles from the Ground Up
Drafts : the Written Language of Weaving
Translating 3S Threadings for the Rigid Heddle
Helpful but not required: Ashenhurst‘s Formula to Determine Sett and Double-Density Threading on the Rigid Heddle.
For indirect warping, the class assumes you know how to prepare a warp with a warping board.
