Twills are the biggest weave structure family. But did you know that most twill designs have certain things in common?
This class provides strategies for working with any twill design.
You’ll discover how to:
- highlight parts of your woven pattern,
- identify the four basic twill design elements: diagonals, zigzags, diamonds, and X shapes
- color in the different design elements to create radically different twill drafts.
- highlight larger motifs created by these four basic elements.
There are two parts to Color & Design in Twills.
Creating Focus and Emphasis is about choosing what people will see in your draft. In it, you’ll learn strategies for highlighting the parts of your woven pattern that you want to see most clearly. You’ll also discover how to choose colors that will attract the eye to the places you want to emphasize.
Designing with Twills shows you how to break down twills into their basic parts: diagonals, zigzags, diamonds, and X shapes. Then, you’ll get some recipes for highlighting those components. Finally, you’ll learn how to highlight individual motifs in your design (a technique that can be used with other structures, too!).
By the end of Color & Design in Twills you’ll understand how twill designs are constructed and how to transform any twill draft into many unique, beautiful projects!
