In Cookies and Clocks we introduced the idea of threading circles and of slash notation, two kinds of diagrams that can help explain the inner workings of threadings and treadlings appropriate for twills.

We’ll be using both frequently in upcoming courses on twill, and this course serves as a primer that will get you up to speed so that you can dive straight into Classic Twills and later courses without puzzling over new notation systems.

Bonus: once you understand slash notation, you’ll have a way to share twill appropriate threadings with other weavers in a simple, straightforward and readable way that doesn’t require software!
